Registration: 29th September, 2013 at 9 am onwards.
Team Managers Meeting: 29th September, 2103 at 5 p.m
Inaugural Function: 30th September at 9 a.m
Valedictory: 2nd October. 2013 at 4 p.m.

Material to be brought by the team manager

  • Authorization letter from the Head of the institution

  • Group photo of the team duly attested by the principal concerned
  • Date of birth certificate certified by government official only

Boarding and lodging

  • All the participants will be given a decent accommodation along with their team manager /coach.
  • Vegetarian food will be served to all the teams and officials on payment basis. The charges are Rs.250/ Per head per day (as per C.B.S.E, norms) this amount covers break fast, lunch, tea, snacks and dinner

Important instructions

  • It shall be mandatory to supply the team photo with the school principal along with entry Performa countersigned by the concerned principal
  • For the student / player studying in IX and above to provide CBSE registration number given by the school and for under 14 years players date if birth certificate certified by government officials
  • Participants are requested not to bring any valuable items such as jewelry, mobile, camera, walkman etc., The team managers will be held responsible for the safety of their belonging and the loss of the host school property
  • The participating schools are requested to submit the travel details form providing, exact date time and mode of journey to enable the organizers to receive the teams from the railway station/Bus station
  • The participating schools are requested to make own arrangement for return journey reservations
  • The schools are requested to bring the latest Xerox copy of the sports affiliation fee paid to CBSE for the year 2013 - 2014
  • A caution deposit of Rs.1000/-per team will be collected when they report on and the same will be refunded whenever the team is vacating our premises
  • All teams have to vacate the premises by 7p.m on 2 October2013

Rules of the Game

Chess

(GIRL'S AND MIXED TEAM)

  • Rules of the All India Chess Federation and FIDE shall apply to the Inter-School Chess tournament unless, otherwise, modified in these rules
  • The team championship will be held in under 14 & 19 years age category in both the sections i.e. Girls and Mixed
  • Every school that wishes to participate is entitled to field the following four teams. The constitution of team members shall be
  • i. Under 14 years mixed category: Either only Boys’ or Boys’ & Girls’ mixed team
    ii. Under 14 years Girls category: Only Girls’ as team members
    iii. Under 19 years mixed category: Either only Boys’ or Boys & Girls mixed team
    iv. Under 19 years Girls category: Only Girls as team members
  • The tournament will be played according to the Swiss System (Seven/Six Rounds). A team shall not play against any other team more than once
  • A team may consist of a maximum of four players. Each playing against the other of the same status in order of ranking
  • Each school shall clearly state the names of its team members before the start of the tournament. Captain/Manager shall submit the original ranking order to the Chief Arbiter before the start of the tournament
  • Each team must play through the entire tournament. However, if a team is forced by circumstances beyond its control to withdraw from the tournament, the team/s will not be paired for the remaining matches
  • The session of play shall be of 40 moves in 90 minutes followed by 30 minutes sudden death rule. In case of availability of Digital Clocks in absolute numbers the time control shall be 90 minutes for the entire with 30 seconds increment from move one
  • The walk-over time shall be 15 minutes
  • Scoring system: The team winning the match will be awarded ‘2’ points and losing team ‘0’. In case of draw, both the teams will be awarded '1' point each. For example, teams winning by 4 - 0; 3½ - ½; 3 - 1 or 2½ - 1½, will be awarded '2' points, irrespective of their score
  • The final positions of the teams shall be determined by the number of points scored by each team.
  • The position of teams, which finish with the same number of game points, shall be determined by the application of the following tie-breaking procedures, in sequence from (a) to (b) to (c) to (d) to the extent required
  • a. By the sum of the game scores of all the teams opponents.
    b. By the sum of match points won.
    c. By the sum of the game of all the opponents defeated plus one half of the game scores of all the opponents with which tied result was achieved.
    d. By the sum of the game scores of all the team’s opponents, excluding the opponents who scored the highest number of game points and the opponent who scored the lowest number of game point.
  • For breaking the tie for Board Prizes; the higher placed team member will be considered for Board Prize
  • What-so-ever the circumstance is, request pertaining to postponement of first round will not be entertained
  • Not more than four Merit Certificates shall be awarded to any team
  • Each team while sending their eligibility Performa will also confirm in writing that they will bring two Chess clocks and two Chess sets, along with them
  • Board Prize Winners will be awarded only the Merit Certificates. (No Medals)
  • The members of the teams winning "Team & Individual Championships" will be awarded the Merit Certificates & Medals
  • From each Zone, top four teams, in each age category separately in both the sections, shall qualify to participate in the National Championship
  • At National level the third day of the championship shall be dedicated exclusively to the individual championship
  • The school Organizing Zone level competition shall take a Group Photo of the teams that have qualified to participate at /National level competition. The photo shall be signed by the host school Principal and forwarded to the school organizing next level of competition along with the original entry Performa

General Information

  • The last date for receiving the entry form is 15th September 2013
  • Separate accommodation for Girls and Boys will be provided for out station students only
  • For students participating from schools within Salem, accommodation will not be provided

    Age group:
  • A player shall be under 14 & 19 years of age on 31 Dec 2013.
    • Under 14 years: Born on or after 01.01.2000
    • Under 19 years: Born on or after 01.01.1995
    • Birth Certificate Xerox copy attested by Head of the institution is must. The Player’s and Team right to participate forfeits if it fails to produce the papers
  • The team championship will be held in under 14 & 19 years age category in both the sections i.e. Girls and Mixed

    • Schools are requested to send four different teams for 4 different categories
      • Our School shall provide clean, hygienic & nutritious food to all the participants
      • Each and every player shall carry with them required documents as mentioned under the title Eligibility of CBSE Inter School Sports & Games Competition of the CBSE Website
  • a) No team will be permitted to participate without accompanying official
  • b) Lodging facility is free for out station participants

 No boarding and lodging facility will be provided for the parents of participants by the organizing school. Participants will not be allowed to stay with their Parents.

  • c) No team shall be accompanied by more than two officials. However in case of girl participants in a team, one of the officials (accompanying) must be a female
  • d) The official accompanying the team shall have a valid ID card issued by the School Principal
  • e) Any non designated person accompanying the team will not be entertained for any matter at the venue and will not be permitted to stay in the premises
  • f) School withdrawing without informing/requesting the Organising school, will be penalized with a penalty of Rs. 1000/-
  • g) The Player’s right to participate forfeits if it fails to produce the papers supporting the eligibility in original on demand
  • h) All the outstation teams should report to the venue on 29th September, 2013 after 9.00 a.m.
  • i) At the time of reporting 2 Passport size Photographs of the Participants, Team Managers, Coaches should be submitted
  • j) Whatsoever the reason may be, on the spot entry or late entry will not be accepted. Further, postal delay will not be considered as an excuse for accepting late entry
